WHAT IS SEXUAL ADDICTION?
Sexual Addiction is OUT OF CONTROL sexual behavior. It is SLAVERY to
various sexual behaviors and fantasies. It is PREOCCUPATION with sexual lust. Sexual
Addiction is comparable to Drug Addiction and Alcoholism. Sexual Addicts use sex like an
alcoholic or a drug addict uses their drug. SEX is their drug of choice. SEX
Is their high.
A sexual addict continues in compulsive, out of control sexual behavior despite the negative
and destructive CONSEQUENCES of that behavior. The consequences can include:
- tormenting feelings of guilt and shame
- accumulated debt
- marital problems and divorce
- deteriorated or non-existent relationship with God
- isolation and loneliness
- anger, resentments, fear, anxiety and DEPRESSION
- dreadfully low self esteem
- super inflated, grandiose ego
- lying, stealing and cheating
- distrust of family and friends
- sexually transmitted diseases including AIDS
- loss of jobs
- loss of sleep
- wasted hours, weeks, months and years
- unwanted pregnancies or abortions
- car accidents from rubber necking
- jails and prisons
- institutions, like rehab centers, psychiatric hospitals and half-way-houses
- death (from diseases, SUICIDE or someone's jealous husband or spouse)
- etc., etc., etc., ...
